For this permanent venue, the Chapiteau (circus tent) de Fontvieille, was built especially for this festival.

In 2012, the 36th festival was opened by Prince Albert II and his sister Princess Stéphanie of Monaco, who is the festival’s patron. The winner in 2011 of the “Clown d’Or” was Bello Nock. Anatoliy Zalevskiy from the la China National Acrobatic Troupe, the Caselly family and Alexis Grüss are just some of the great circus artists who have received this award over the years.
